I'm currently stuck on Venena Coenubia on easy. It seems to be a much more complex boss than previous bosses. I manage to kill the two pillars, bring her health down completely, and start killing the 2 pillars for the second time, but that's when my party gets wiped out.
I'm level 114 with standard skills for a 2 hand sword class and using a high level guild mercenary.

    Strength at 255
    Dexterity at 30

I have 4th Anniv Greatsword XI +7 (unstatted)
    Heaven Feather Garb +7 (unstatted)
    Holy Knight Vest +7 (unstatted)
    Enlightened Bangle/Magician's Ring

Level 1 Skills: shukuchi, mp charge
Level 5 Skills: sword mastery, astute, attack up, whack, hard hit, quick slash, trigger slash, sword techniques, magic arrows, magic impact, magic javelin, magic lances, critical up, sonic blade, spiral air, war cry, safe rest, bushido, rampage, short rest, two-handed, shot mastery, long range, quick draw, sword tempest
Level 10 Skills: hp boost, mp boost

I'm thinking I need to create a second character to accompany me so I have a party of 3.
I'm looking at a Bow, or 1-hand/shield tank/defender. Would one be better than the other? Or Dual Sword, but I'm not too sold on that.
I'm also thinking about buying a high level pet off consignment and raise it while I'm leveling my second character so I can have a party of 4. Is there a best pet? Perro looks pretty good.
    Any thoughts?

Where should I go from here, I've tried leveling on normal monsters and it's slowed down quite a bit.

i think what you might need to do is actually stat your equipments, it'll help you do more damage to the boss. Whats your stat distribution on your 2h?

My stats are 255 strength/30 dexterity.
I'm trying to avoid statting my equipment until I've at least completed the main quest. I wanted to make a blacksmith and stat them myself.

You can't restat your equipment after statting it the first time, can you?
If I did stat my equipment what should I focus on?

I mean, a second character and a pet should definitely help though yeah?

once you've statted it, you cannot restat.
    for 2h i use atk 7%, cdmg 7%, cdmg 19
my mercs never survive venana's beam. Do you have guildies or friends that can help you with the boss?

Gotcha, yeah I'm in a party right now with a friend trying it again.
So what level should I get a blacksmith to in order to stat the best, I don't want to waste the equipment

thank you. I was able to beat it with friends.
I'm still looking into a second character and a pet.
Are you able to use a guild/friend mercenary, one of your other characters accompanying, and a pet at the same time? For a party of 4?
For a second character accompanying, do you think tank or damager dealer is more useful? I'm still debating bow or 1hand/shield.
And for pet, what should I be looking for? I was looking at Perros for 200,000 spina.

I'd suggest that once Pelelu gets a hammer make sure you've got room for her in your PT she has high HP and awesome First Aid Skills =)

Do you have any revive droplets?

I usually prefer to use a tank merc w/over 100k+ hp, mostly since if i die they could revive me. but then i don't have a dmg issue. I don't think merc does a huge amount of dmg though in general, i usually tend not to rely on them and drag a friend/guildie along if i need help

I have plenty of revive droplets, but I was told to save them for end game.

Pelulu has her hammer already so yay.

See, I was thinking a second damage dealer would be more useful, killing the boss faster. I figured a tank would just end up dying eventually if the rest of the party had been wiped out. So the tanks that have a lot of HP can survive long enough against a boss that you can revive?

If you want to use Revive Droplets, wait until Pelulu is dead, then stay alive long enough for her to revive again. If youe combo is too long and keeps getting stopped, change it so it won't get broken wasting all your MP.

Why is your Impact, Quick Draw, and Sword Tempest at lv5 though? Impact needs to be at lv7 for instant cast, while Quick Draw and Tempest needs to be lv10.

Edit: It's not advised for newbies to make a statter. To add good stats, you'll need your statter to be high level and you'll need a lot of material points. I suggest having at least one high level character (180+?) before making a statter.

Pet leveling is also harder for newbies, and building good pets require knowledge.

They're at level 5 because I don't have enough stat points right now and wanted to get all my skills, and honestly I don't know too much about the skills, builds or combos. I couldn't find a comprehensive guide on which skills and why, so I went on youtube and looked at a whole bunch of two-handed sword builds and copied the skills that were used the most. My final skills build is going to be.

Level 1: shukuchi, mp charge, magic finale, backstep
Level 5: whack, hard hit, quick slash, trigger slash, magic arrows, magic javelin, magic lances, sonic blade, spiral air, safe rest, bushido, short rest, shot mastery, long range, meikyo shisui, assassin stab
    Level 7: magic impact
Level 10: sword mastery, astute, attack up, sword techniques, critical up, war cry, hp boost, intimidating power, rampage, mp boost, two-handed, buster blade, meteor breaker, berserk, quick draw, sword tempest, decoy shot

So I'll hold off on the blacksmith for now. I was going to wait until I finished the main quest, but I should just wait until max level it sounds like. Could I survive off of the items the NPC blacksmith makes? I want to do stuff myself, I don't want to rely on someone else statting my items.

Can I even use a pet as my fourth party member? If I have a guild mercenary, and my second character accompanying me as the first two? So a cheap kinda of crappy pet really wouldn't be of any use at all?

I do still need to build my second character to accompany me. What will be of the most use in getting to max level? A 1-handed sword/shield tanker (why are ALL shields so expensive?), or a damage dealing bow? Or a damage dealing dual sword, though I don't really want to do that build.

The common Youtube build, as I thought. Well, I do suggest maxing your current damaging skills such as Sword Tempest, since it'll help you in reaching lv150.
Some items from the NPC blacksmith are quite good, though getting the materials can be a problem. Also you don't have to solo grind leveling, there's a lot of people leveling too, and you can join them. I'm sure some won't mind having 1-2 members without lv4 skills.
Yes, you can have a solo 4-member party. You, an accompanying character, a guild/friend mercenary, and a pet. A weak pet wouldn't really help damaging, but it could help prorating, which in turn boosts your skills' damage.

The best attacker mercenary, is no doubt, a 2h character.

Shields on CB are expensive cuz they're selling the dyes (and appearances). If you check the shields, they have the basic shield stats which are garbage. One of the best shields is the Dark General Shield boss ver.

Haha you say common youtube build like it's a terrible thing, are the builds from there that much worse?

I already have to two-handed sword character so I wanted to try another weapon/build. Do you have a recommendation between bow(attacker), one-handed sword/shield(tanker/defender) or dual sword (attacker)?

Recommended cheap pet? Still looking at a Perro.

youtuber build usually only showcasing when it's at the max potential, and some people tend to ignore about the process to reach that max potential. That's probably the case that you've been experienced, considering how you mixed things up

Tbh, copying a build that's meant for capped char is useless to you, because the char that's going to get you to lv.150 will end up as cannon fodder anyway (if we're talking about SP investment).

keep in mind, pets do take a while to get the proper skills u want & then level it. the skills on the pets are randomize so if it's not the right one, then u trash the pet and restart. In the beginning, pets die with u in parties more so than help you, until you've level it to a good point, then they would actually help u. but it is a long process, unless u're lucky and get the skills u want on first try.

if u plan to build a bow, i have a pretty good guide here, i just need to update the boss drops for bows since i don't use those i havent been updating it lately, but everything else is up to date - https://toramonline.com/index.php?threads/the-pure-archer-build.9282/

but i recommend u getting ur first char to at least 150 before starting a 2nd char. so you can access lv4 skills on the 2nd char u created without hitting lvl req
