Hey all, I just started a few days ago. I was looking at class builds, and a staff fu one looked fun and good, so I started with that. I used to play FFXI, so I understand some basic things. I'm now level 18, but I could really use some beginner tips.

I honestly don't know anything about the game yet, like how to make money easily, best ways to farm or level. No idea how to party, aside from using a mercenary (although I don't really know how it works cause only 1 friend of mine can be used as a mercenary).

I'm assuming things like crafting and pets will be explained when I reach the required level, but any tips there on what the best craft(s) to pursue would be a great help.

Thanks ya'll, looking forward to rocking this game. :)

    *edit*
Also, are there any specific items I need at certain milestones? e.g. super armor of coolness at level 30 is a must have

I suggest just finish the Main Quest first cos it will bring you to maybe level 80? Then from there if you want to level up quickly you might want to do a certain side quest and farm Nightmare Crystals (NC) from Nightmare Roars in Area 3 of Ancient Empress Temple. Or just buy them from Consignment Board. You need to be at least level 50 or 70 to access the side quest from Lefina in Sofya City that asks for 1 stack (99 pcs) of NC in exchange for 300,000 Exp. Or if you care more about money, you can farm nc and sell them, the price range is about 60k-80k/stack. Other things you can grasp easier once you get yourself settled and familiar with the game. So good luck, enjoy and take your time :)

PS. Mages are the best farmers cos they have this awesome AOE skill called Storm that kills multiple monsters in a swirl ;)
PPS. Mages use Staff or Magical Device (MD). Staff has higher damage output. MD has lower damage output BUT your AOE skills like Storm get bigger/wider in range, hence, more kills. Farmer mages utilize MD for this reason.

I would rather suggest something like Sword and shield, and aim for a bulkier character. A semi-tank (that can solo) for getting through, and enjoying, the main quest storyline. Start a second farming/crafting alt after your first char reaches level 70. =)
