initially, MD sub only reduces atk by 15% and does nothing else.
other weapons get the skill bonus for magic, but staves do not.
without a magic book, which is rare and not available early on, it does nothing.
i saw people using it because "it's a magic weapon so it must be for staff" and "because i want pretty wings" even though the description on the equip screen clearly states that is does nothing and the 'wings' won't extend either. daggers, arrows and shields all provide additional stats.

Thats fair, but I simply don't agree that it's the "worst" combination. Simply differentiating them by their inherent Stat isn't consistent with how the other odd combo took skill combination to an account, just like the two handed skill bonus from katana that unusable with dagger equipped.

Actually, rather than an odd weapon combo, it should be classified as a "special" or a "hybrid" as staff+MD with resonance is actually really practical. Same case with adding MD to a knuck or the less-practical-not-meta 1h md magic warrior build
