To counter the long melee duration, it's a good idea to get power wave to give yourself some distance.. that way the boss/mob will take some time to move towards you while you charge AMPR

 

@NineArts Well idk if this is a poop question but... I'm kinda new to the game and made a DW toon. My auto-attack damage is kinda unstable like some hits 100 and some does 60. And I saw on the vid that your dmg is stable. How do I make it like that? Seeing you have no AGI too. Thanks in advance

That's a Tomahawk. Only Gigant Knight drops it.

Power Wave always gives you a damage decrease if you're not using a Staff or Magic Device (main or sub)

That's impossible. First, DW's damage potential comes later than all other classes, as it needs all the stat points it can get. Secondly, you cannot equip a MD on sub (because you have a 1H there obviously), thus you cannot benefit of the 70% damage increase on Power Wave.
The only real benefits to Power Wave are:
- Prorate and to regain MP safely
- Kite some bosses (but DW auto animation is slow, so I doubt that it will work)
- Look cool by sending sonic waves with your blades
