When dps die while you tank. How is that happend?

I was in serveral paties at Gerumi today. Some party is super awesome and I could tank with No ONE die at all. I tend to lure the boss to the end of the platform so even when it spamed skill no one should die.

However, there are party where DPS just die like .. all 3 of them die and I was doing exactly the same thing. And I usually get a full tank rank.
I noticed that sometime Gerumi has this "ice" skill where it hit every player at the start of the game. And it seemed that I cannot stop it coz you cannot stunt/impact.

So should I do something with that so no one die or should the dps run away from the skill themself? (especially those close range DPS , when Gerumi make a spinning move they tend to die)

Some player called me a fake tanker and I am pretty annoyed by that. I tried not to choose to party with bow player only (easier to tank with coz they dont get in the way of aoe skill). But any close range DPS I party with seem to have problem with my tanking skill.

 

Dont listen to people who say you cant do your job right if you're doing literally everything you can, do what you want.
There are many reasons why the DPS can die when you Tank:
1. Maybe the game is slower for them and they happened to die from lag
2. They have not fought the boss and is trying for the first time
3. They were in the middle of a combo when something fatal is about to happen
4. They dont care about how the game works and blame the tank for dying when the tank cant do anything about it, being reckless and assuming that they can do whatever they want
5. Accidents happen

There are many bosses that have specific AI that targets people with the lowest aggro so you cant rely on a tank. Tanking is a slow but also very memory based job at times, and people who have never tanked wont know about how it works. Many people assume that with a tank they are invincible and with a good tank and its not exactly wrong, but people also have to remember how to not die. So many people will say "its the tanks fault I died" when it really is not, because they dont wanna seem weak and want to put the blame onto the easiest person.

As a tanker, if someone dies, you really cant do much about it since you also have a boss trying to murder you. Just dont care if someone calls you a bad tanker, and try to find pts that can work together. I know thats hard, because most pts (at least the ones I've been in) suck.

 

My tank is a DEX > VIT bowgunner that is basically a soloer build with provoke and guardian for aggro generation, and I'm surprised that I haven't been called a "fake tanker". There's not really too much you can do if your party members are reckless, but I suppose getting some more party support skills would help. If you are rich enough, getting nature's wonders and spamming it in your combo might help.

I think it's kinda funny that people die so frequently despite having a tank in their party. I'm not a support enthusiast, but at this point the community should probably just embrace the idea of support builds like they did with tanks back in the day. Skills like life song could help out immensely since low max hp is a killer among newer players.

I think it depends on occasion too, tbh the varieties of food buff made them reckless. In few week ago, there's a dps player ate level 7 +%aggro. 58%aggro was quite troublesome to deal with. And i also did read some post/screenshot on discord that the tanker ate -aggro% food.

That's normal when you are partying with random people. Both dps and tanker need to get customized each time they joined a party. Some players lack of info, its better to share everything that related to target/boss fight/event boss etc. Gerumi only has two fatal attack, one is narrow linear (red), which give massive damage and knockback and the multiple huge aoe (fatal). Some players just lack of experience and once they get used to it. It will be smooth round.
Regarding melee dps, as long you keep your guardian buff on. They cant blame you. guardian also can give ampr to meele dps, reduce dmg reduction (taken from the target/mobs) and aggro reductions. Right now, gsw is pretty common for meele players too. If the dps die too much, ask them to get hp food buff/vita plus and ask them not to use gsw.

i can understand when dps eat +aggro
but i can't call fake tank when the tank eat -aggro?

I assume it a case of the player eating -aggro food for another character they had(bow?mage?etc) , since there r builds that like to go ‘ninja’ or plain ‘die trying(+aggro)’ xD

 

The boss has fatal damage aoe that triggers when you kill the mobs when the boss has low hp

 

Well, i have ohs tank (mtl), ohs tank (non mtl), bg tank (mtl), bg tank (tech bs /non mtl), knuckle tank (mtl). I also has dps/semi good on damaging on target for example, hh, 2h, mage and bow but i cant perform well as dps, when i m leveling dps char i will steal/eat aggro food or equip -aggro gears. When unpredictable things happen, lets say no tank in party at ult orn. You have no choice to use your tank and the food buff still active (-58% aggro). Tank player also has dps char lol. Its not like we play 100% as tank >_< .

Tbh, i did had some experience with dw gsw. Its sad tho, he/she just die in one hit at ult orn. It just slow the team down and became a burdened , so basically he/she just leeched the rounds. Sighs.

Yes and the situation usually changed. Lets say, you are planning to level your dps char but no tank in the party.
Well, people often to blame tank, thats what dps good at. They are good blaming to the tank >_< . Sometimes i m kinda enjoyed it when dps die .

I think, on the first day of the event. I partied with katana player. So 1 tank 1 dps. To best honest he killed all the mobs during at 30% or lower but it didnt trigger the aoe mechanism. It just smooth round.

 

Thank you guy it make me feel better. I had 1 dps (Helberd) , whiched I delete after I reach lvl 192. So I do understand Dps point of view but my Cha rarely die during boss fight as long as I can memorize boss action/skill. My only char now is a tank because I enjoy tanking.

It was very frustated when people were being mean. I had an incident earlier today where a DPS die within ...I think 30 second after we join the battle with Gerumi and he asked "No tank in the party". I had Protection , Aegis , Sanctually and guardian on and he/she still died and asked if there is no tank in the party.

I was at Vene a few days back holding aggro on Venena but she casted black flame(?) to individual dps player. And one of the dps ask if I can tank why he still die.

It was an upsetting experience really to get asked that when I always get a full tank rank.

Sometimes the boss ignores the aggro holder n just bullies the other members xD
I really started to appreciate and thank any n all tanks at/after Gespenst event, that l partied with~

Boss Gerumi ignore aggro holder during casting of ice bullets or something. Base on our experement, no more than 500k + or let's just say OP damage at 50% hp mark to avoid making it mad. That is why fully charge cf and finale at 50% hp is not recommended to use if you want to safely kill the stupid boss.
