Why like all tanks use sword?

Just wondering if it is possible to use claws instead of sword as vit tank.
Anyone has any thought about this please?

 

Claws damage will be real low judging that they specialize on speed and not atk.. I tried it and ended up deleting my character...

 

Well... tank is supposed to be low in attack so as long as we can hold aggro with rage sword, why cant we make a claw tank?

 

Not saying you can't make. But if you want give it a try...

 

Is there any other drawbacks besides having low attack? Would you please share more of your experience please?
I mean as long as I can hold aggro and tank, it is actually a fun build.

 

Only problem with it would that the atk is lower than normal claw and the speed won't be that high since you'll be going vit instead of agi. But if you can deal enough damage to keep its attention on you your good. Cause most mobs go and atk the player that deals more damage

 

Best tank is with strong shield. Because shield sometimes neutralises damage you receive

 

What is this about damage...? Even with low damage, Provoke level 10 alongside aggro equipment should keep you more than covered for aggro.

Claws do perfectly fine for tanking. The only reason most work with swords is because they either have
1.) A high Attack Speed for mp regeneration and spam
(Brutal Dragon Sword)
2.) High aggro rate and mp regeneration.
(Accordion Fold Sword)
3.)Want Rage Sword
4.)Want the useful skills like Trigger Slash or Quick Slashing / Sword Mastery for later skills.
5.)Dex adds hit as well as damage.

These and that it's comfortable and easy to work with. Where Knuckles have no guides and no familiarity.

Knuckles won't have access to Rage Sword for extra aggro or the sword skills for damage. Yes, damage helps in aggro gain, but no where near as much as aggro gear or Provoke does. Vit tanks hold aggro perfectly fine with no damage afterall. Damage is a preferance as a tank, not a nessecity.

Along with that...agi provides knuckles tanks with the very best mp regeneration available to continuously spam skills that provide high aggro. Alongside Knuckles high rate of aggro anyway, the damage really doesn't matter.

The only real problem knuckles have are the stat builds available to them. Agi is a great defensive stat and will have no problem with melee attacks or MP regeneration. The flip side is that you'll have no hit rate if you ignore dex and will have a bad time against magic. Though thanks to the agi and vit combo, you can probably supplement the magic problem through gear and skills and focus on dex when possible.

 

In new i game but i whant to try bowgun and shield tank, if is pure dex and vit. It is posible?

 

You actually could since Arrows aren't required with Bowguns. I couldn't tell you what you may be missing other than Rage Sword though. I'm not sure how good or bad bow mp regeneration is either. You'd be able to kite and control though. Which would be interesting and may also serve to be safer for melee dps overall outside of movement skills. Shield Bash would still be effective, but it will require you to master Shield Mastery for attack speed to improve mp regen.

Doesn't seem like it'll come out bad tbh. Tell us how it goes once you get deeper into it.

 

Arrows aren't as effective with bowguns as they are with bows so your better off using daggers or shield in the long run

 

Um. He said he'd be using Bowgun and Shield....so...yeah...

That and Arrows are the only way to convert a bowguns element right now. So they're still useful as a means for elemental abuse.
