Im currently making a mage brust support cha that can switch to mage finale as well.

Currently my pt buff are : Brave aura , mana recharge , high cycle, quick motion and stone skin. I just cast them at the start then use burst in between for dps and porate. I also has spirit dance for aoe spamming boss ( i switch to finale + spirit dance for support)
I think about getting war cry but since most of my 2h friends have it and most tank has it i think. I dont think it need to get it for now.

However , other than friends i dont use my support cha to pt with random. So i was wondering what other ppl think of support class?
Im tryig to get better gears for mage when 5th anniv come so i can contribute more on dps side.

Ps. I surprise to find that with a support cha , a boss run seems to be faster. I had ulti nena run where i was using final and it was about 4mins to 5min. Then i switch to mage burst with full sup and sticked to my dps like a glue. The run become faster at 3min ish.

I think semi supports are pretty welcomed. As long as you're not 100% fully comitted to no dmg just buff, you should be fine. What people don't usually like is seeing someone not using any dmging skills.
I really like my semi support burst mage, although i just bless, heal tank when necesarry and buff brave, cycle and quick motion. If I had more sp i'd really go for mana recharge cuz everyone likes free mp, or dancer skills.
And yea, most phisical people have warcry on them
edit. I no longer want mana recharge, forgot it's secondary effect

As a reminder, mana recharge reduces caster's damage by 25% but good for support

Outside the occasional troll going "supports useless" or something like that I never had much trouble with my 2 pure supports.

Supports don't really have problem fitting in a party, unless the party themselves don't know what role they are doing. I've played pure support as main and my utility chars, never had problems with parties.

Focus on your role, whether you are semi or pure. Keep boosting your allies.
    Also imo Damage=/=party contribution

If you get teamed up with two dps that can kill fast and know how to prorate, your boosting effeciency because of your buffs.
Tanks are friends of support, because Support help in alleviating stress and mp consumption (especially those first aids) .

    i like support.

just one time, long ago, i had a bad experience with a self-proclaimed "healer" who would only cast bless and mp charge.
they repeatedly spammed bless before the duration ended, simply because the 1st tick is triggered on cast and they thought it would heal faster/more this way.
they didn't auto-attack even once. eventually someone died from a strong boss attack and the "healer" complained how that person could die, because "healing".
to top it off, they didn't use first aid because "healing" the remaining pt members was more important.

I feel bad you experienced that, but there are also bad supports just as there are good ones xD (also the population of supports is too small you can hardly come across partying with one, more especially the good ones). There are players I've come across who tried support, but gives up on it because it does not suit their way of playing and also Aso's limitation. But its actually what I find appealing in continuing as a Support player in Toram.

Frankly, there aren't actually many mentors or guides to teach how a Support playstyle is really played in Toram. Although there are awesome videos or guides that really make them shine and notable, Finelia and Yuu's are great examples how they can be played.

Anyway, for those players out there interested in doing Support, it is really challenging, because it is a different experience and playstyle.
-Study boss patterns, learn how to position yourself between DPS and/or tank when doing auras
-Learn other means of supporting other than auras, (whether to prorate, uncancellable buffs, debuff ailments)
-Make use of impact, (seriously it cuts down first aid mp stack cost by alot)
-Always prioritze giving First Aids and Heals especially on dead members
-Keep casting recoveries on allies even if no ailment, epsecially useful on bosses that give ailments
-Know party members' capabilities, understand who needs boosting

As long as you're spamming a bit of magic to influence the proration. Definitely, I don't mind buffs, as long as they're appropriate. Like, if we're getting hit by heavy magical damage, you use magic resistance...bot physical resistance and lower our magic resistance.
