Boss like iconos has high magic resistance. My magic burst with 100% magic pierce deal like 100k dmg at iconos ultimate compare to ifrid ultimate which I deal 300k dmg with 90% magic pierce. So is there a way to decrease boss magic resistance, like how we decrease boss def using armor break or using 100% physical pierce. I assume armor break work for magic def too, right?o_O

There is no way to lower resistance, so you may only increase your matk to deal with it.

Idk how you tested it, but iconos can't be prorated, but ifrid can. Proration can increase dmg by up to 2.5x, so that maybe is the huge difference you noticed.

Its more complicated than I thought to test thing in game... Like my guild mate ask does your attack being evaded or miss by boss count as proration? and I tried to test it at flare vlog because it has evasion but I failed to get an answer that is satisfying. But isnt proration mean boss defense increases because you used same type of attack? So I thought with magic pierce you wont need to prorate? The same thing I thought with dragon tooth...

Proration doesn't affect defence. It's damage multiplier. Magic pierce have no effect on proration.

    missed attacks don't prorate.
evasion still counts as hit, so proration will change.

-,- I don't think proration exists ... it's attack stability of your skills and weapons if I may say... and boss/mobs gets resistance to pain(passive skills just like assassin skill) when you keep doing a same pysical attack/magic attack on em ... @-@ well it's just imagination .... hp will only get lower when it's weaking the boss which Is why having ailment on bosses gets you more damages ....

    it does. it was datamined.
stability is yet another factor and has nothing to do with proration.
that's how the proration algorithm works.
any hitting attack will deal at least 1 damage, unless evasion activates or the boss has invincible status.
only Poison and Ignite deal extra damage.
only Armor Break (and Weaken for non-boss monsters) increase damage dealt by your attacks.
some bosses will trigger different attack patterns and/or change their stats when inflicted with specific ailments, but those are unique boss mechanics and not ailment effects.

Proration is freakin official. You should go to library and talk to one of the NPC there so you could see the NPC itself explaining about the damn thing.
And just like what @Insane23 said, congrats for describing it yet denying it too

if you manage to get 100% m.pierce and matk 3000. you should focus increasing srd%/lrd% since it will give more benefit boost than matk% at (3000matk+burst 500 constant). this is the only way to power up burst aside elemental stats/magic critical
