There are three major things BotW had inspired:

    1. Cel-shading (Nintendo wasn’t the first to use said style); the graphics are eerily similar,
    2. Geographical features; bloody identical, however the map layout is unique,
    3. Certain gameplay features such as climbing, paragliding, and swimming.
    And two major differences:

    1. Combat system; hack-and-slash party system comparable to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or NieR Automata,
    2. Story.
    I’m sure there are more.

I haven’t played Genshin Impact, and assuredly, neither have you--you’re simply talking rubbish at this point. Admittedly, I was quite skeptical at first--as a Zelda fan, I was put off by Genshin Impact's initial success as it seemingly plagiarised BotW (therefore I understand your sentiment). However, is there anything wrong with improving upon a previously successful formula? No; there isn’t--it’s similar to arguing that most MMOs are WoW clones.

I understand Chinese gaming companies are notorious for cloning popular games, however Genshin Impact is one of many exceptions. It’s, by far, much easier to write it off as a clone than criticize its merits.

Looks like they are collecting feedback on Resin going by what CMs are posting on discord.

Knew that was coming. They sent everyone a survey to do and after doing the survey they sent you 20,000 mora. I 'm sure they had got a lot of complaints about Resin. lol

Ok, let's look at everything GI knocked off.

1 - General movement: Blatantly obvious if you climb in both of the games and then jump to glide or attack.

2- Skills like Revalis gale in BoTW, look exactly like the transition into flight in GI.

    3- Wind cleave animations

4- Slime vs chuchu, exactly the same behaviour and responses to elemental damage.

    5 - Balloon puzzles

6 - Mobs dancing in camps when idle

7 - Mob behaviour and animation in combat, such as emotes and attack patterns.

8 - Explosive barrels in camps for convenience

9 - Mob encampments designs and fortifications

10 - Games introduction into the playable world, the cut scene is exactly the same.

12- Map design. Holy, too many similarities in topography. You'd know, if you played both.

13- Heavy weapon spin attacks? Like, that's way too obvious.

I could probably make a list of 200 similarities. But since I clocked up about 80 hours then uninstalled the game, it really isn't worth documenting the obvious bs.

I just won't accept a plagiarized game, as anything other than trash.

Haven't reached the point where resin is a problem since I can only play around 2 hours a day but yeah it does suck being locked on progressing unless you pay.
That being said it is a single play game so people needa chill and diversify a bit, there are other games to play like toram *cough cough* and playing a single player game 10+hours a day for two weeks and reaching end game and being disappointed is self explanatory lol.

It will become a chore for PC and Console players who spend a lot of time than Mobile players if you ask me. Most of the complaints for resin are from PC and Console players I mean why would they add mobile gacha elements on those platforms if they're just going to restrict their freedom to farm. Some friends of mine who are playing the game thru PC are starting to think on uninstalling the game because of this wall. They already spent money on the character rolls but they are not going to spend money just to fight the bosses more than 3 times a day just to get the loot and I am pretty sure most of the players playing the game like to fight bosses than exploring the once again unlocked maps for some random chest hunt or random stroll for the scenary.

All man i should have screenshot you previous comment before you had changed it. It was good. lol

At the start i was playing roughly 4-5 hours and now im playing 2-3 hours doing the daily missions, dungeons and exploring the map for treasure chests. 10+ hours of gaming Genshin a day would give me a headache can't see how they can do it. Hopefully they at least eat.

What happened to their Fragile Resin? and what happed to their free primogems that they have gotten from quests, missions, daily missions, and chests. Wasted them on rolls for characters. I was stacked with those Fragile Resin. I play on PC too cause the graphic looks nice and my PC can handle it (actually its a gaming laptop). Im currently at adventure rank 36 and still don't see resin being an issue on me playing and enjoying the game. By the time i go to do other things in real life like work for example or sleep and get up, my resin it at 100-max. The game does have other things that they can do though other then spam bosses and dungeon. Have they opened all waypoints, solve a majority of the puzzles hidden in liyue (there is a lot too and they all offers precious chests).

True, but there are people who can only play on a specific time or day. Those who had a limited time to play will try to rush their progress & having a limit to play will be disappointing. There are also hardcore players who spends more time to play & try to reach the end game as fast as they can.

Yeah, wasted on rolls because they don't have the same luck as you do. They already explored most/all of the quests and puzzles because they're hardcore players and has time to do so because they're staying at home and jobless for the mean time due to the pandemic. They don't want to hunt chests once again since they've been doing it for few days after hitting the wall and not worth doing in the long run. The purpose they're playing the game is to fight bosses with their favorite characters but to only fight 3 times a day with a 16 hour resin replenish time made them feel restricted and hate the game's current system.

To be honest, i m happy when people start to migrate to genshin impact. Its good news, since there's a lot of issues with toram. Based on what i read in this thread, maybe the application gaccha system might be changed later on. Its just like a honey trap and people get excited of it. It wont as long. Its more like a supermarket grand opening. If it doesnt, this type of gacha system might be copied by other mobile game company. Greedy or not, its just a business and all business must have "target sales".

So basically, every devs (toram/genshin etc) can change their method to squeeze money from players. Its kinda offtopic on what i write, sorry~

Its also a lesson to toram devs, i bet they can see players activities (players login activities), so if they are not improving the game, people will continue leaving toram. Genshin impact seems a nice game, well if i plan to play it i might need time to learn about it. Its required more time. I wish i can have more time T_T.I will stick to toram till i fed up. * Note, i dont play genshin impact (not yet)

I see, now that makes a lot of sense. It seems what Genshin really needs for players like those are more things that will keep them occupied. I am currently in the same spot (currently have 2 unused Fragile resin left), but instead of spamming bosses i explore the map for chests since those common chest always spawns regardless of how many times you had already opened them. From my experience they randomly respawn in different locations daily, and it has been confirmed by someone reaching out to the devs that the common chests do respawn. I'm not sure about exquisite chests though. Maybe if genshin add a script to their game where a bunch of puzzles randomly spawns (like what common chests does) where you will have to solve to get higher grade chests with some of those requiring you to fight mini bosses to get special artifacts, weapons drops (drops that you will not find in dungeons) then it should move those hardcore players to focus more on exploration rather then grinding bosses then running out of Resin feeling like they need to farm Primogems to spend on Resin or to spend real money to get more of it. Just an idea.

You’re deliberately neglecting the differences between Genshin Impact and BotW to advance the argument you’re posing--that is intellectual dishonesty:
    1. Combat system;
Again, it is a hack-and-slash party system. Each character has one element which can be used to create a string of attacks that contribute extra damage--hence, why character swapping is so seamless. In essence, the combat system has a very JRPG feel to it; it is, by far, the most diverging factor.
    1. Map layout;
Its geographical features are nearly identical to BotW, however its topography is dissimilar. You employed the term incorrectly: topography refers to the mapping the shapes and features of land surfaces while geography refers to the spatial variation of the land and how one interacts with it.

I acknowledge Genshin Impact had taken many elements from BotW, however, as a whole, it is not a clone--it’s much more than that and to act as though none of the features in BotW were ever conceived before its release is not only ignorant, but idiotic (matter of fact, Genshin Impact took a fair amount from Honkai Impact 3rd, its predecessor released in 2016). There surely are features BotW taken from other, much older games--however that is beyond the scope of this thread. That being said, I find it unreasonable to argue that taking elements from a renowned game and improving upon it is inherently wrong; I reckon you, too, desire more games to take inspiration from BotW’s formula, and Genshin Impact did just that (and Immortals Fenyx Rising; go ahead and call that plagiarised trash).

It's plagiarism. There has been a clear consensus on the topic. But, unfortunately in gaming plagiarism and cloning is more normative in development. But if you've ever spent hours coding, to have your code copied by someone else and profited upon. Then you'd probably understand why this is such a controversial topic.

This is an interesting argument, because it’s completely wrong. It isn’t plagiarism, and if it were, BotW would have also committed plagiarism:
    1. Just Cause 2’s gliding mechanic,
    2. Skyrim’s concept of an open world (ironically I recall many calling BotW a clone of Skyrim),
    3. Studio Ghibli's aesthetics,
    4. Shadow of Colossus’ climbing mechanic,
    5. The Legend of Spyro’s Guardians (Divine Beasts).
I could name about 200 similarities, but I won’t do that--I reckon my point has come across quite nicely. No one is calling that plagiarism because that’d be ridiculous. And yet...here we are. No game owns a concept; I suppose you’re a bit young to comprehend this.

Unless you can prove (the burden of proof lies on you) that Genshin Impact has plagiarised the assets employed in BotW, it will remain mere speculation. Then, it would be considered a plagiarised game, by definition.

Yes, there has been a clear consensus on the topic. Genshin Impact has been significantly inspired by BotW, however offers a new experience by sprinkling other ideas into the cauldron (hence similarity ≠ clone). Those who call it plagiarism are hypocrites. But, unfortunately, in gaming, there are gamers that are a bit thick and this sort of deportment has become a norm.

I was wrong, and you were wrong; it’s time to accept that. I’m definitely giving Genshin Impact a go as it’s similar to BotW, and logically, I would like something that is similar to a game I very much enjoyed.

Edit: It has come to my attention certain code used in game development cannot be stolen, as they are fundamental to game design. Therefore, arguing Genshin Impact stole BotW’s code is invalid.

Yeah; a great review. I do hope more Zelda fanboys will give it a watch it before causing a clamour over essentially nothing.

Yeah. It just only make sense to test something out first for a bit before making conclusions on it. Many seem to not do that now a days.
