Dual Wield Lvl 3 Skills Explanation

@Cypherian, I'm at work now so I cannot offer much in terms of test and thoughts. But so far, I'm happy that I deleted my DW.

I totally agree that DWs should be treated as a class of its own since DW skills offer a wider array of utility if comboed right. I'll have to put a lot of thoughts into a new combo. It seems like the only skills useful from sword tree are Astute, which now DWs maybe able to live without.

Once I have a plan, I'll share what I found ^^

So which is the strongest DW skill? Phantom Slash or Twin Slash?
and what is the meaning of unsheathe?

 

I'd say Twin Slash is better as a DPS skill: Phantom might be stronger, but it takes a lot of time to deal its damage, unlike Twin, which is instant.
An unsheathe attack is an attack when you "equip" your weapon.
To be more specific, you know that your character has two stances: normal and attack stance. The unsheathe attack is the auto attack you do when you're in the normal stance, switching to the attack stance. For 1H, it's a spinning slash (like Trigger); for DW, it's the cross slash that does 6 hits.

That's very true. I've listed out 7 possible combos with Phantom, inserted formulas to calculate their respective damage. Difference between the best and worse combo is within 10%.

Then I added a combo without Phantom to compare, the total damage is roughly 60%, with combo duration about 60% of the time used in a combo with Phantom.

Conclusion, Phantom did not add DPS to DW. Like @Cypherian said, the new skills added more utility to DW. The only increase in DPS came from @makOi's combo where you smite Phantom with motion speed buff, which increased DPS by slightly reducing combo duration.

Flash blast is an awesome skill, but including that in any combo will lower damage by 10% (based on the calculation I mentioned above), as you do not do any immediate damage with FB. It's more like a buff you cast sparingly like Cyph suggested. However, it is a 200mp cast.

Based on my calculations, I will not be making a DW at this moment ^^ Sorry, Cyph.

Maybe one day, if an awesome idea hit me in the face, I'll revisit DW again. At this point, the best builds are already covered by @Cypherian for AMPR solo type, or @makOi for spammable DPS type ^^

DW is not for everyone. It's like asking someone who has learnt and used Taekwondo or any other martial arts which engages an enemy head-on, and then changing to another style which uses circular movements and leverages on the enemy's attacks/movements, like Tai Chi.

 

I agree. Playing a DW with my current style would be a waste. I'm type 1+2, but much of a DWs value lies in 3 & 4, hence I'm not wasting time creating a character I know I'll regret.

Yeh, using DW and its utility is more like playing arcade fighting games, you must be more versitile and tactical for diffirent kinds of battle, its worthless if your a rage mode skill spamming (hadoken hadoken, shinku hadoken) style of player.. that most player want to. kudos @Cypherian

As much as i am sad to hear that. i hope you find your playstyle sooner or later. and thank you for all the ideas and suggestions you gave me that made some of the builds possible

 

I actually Love the new skillset. I was doing my Death dancer build based upon chraging in, Dealing damage, and disengaging... all using 1mp.... But Since then, I have ceased that build entirely. My New Build is AGI : DEX 3:4 And Based around Almost Pure DW skills. I use Power Wave in ALL my DW builds because it matches my run and gun playstyle.

With that being said, I r10'd Twin Slash, Phantom Slash, Dual Mast, Godspeed, and That first skill you have to take to reduce drop in crit rate.

So far, I use Reflex as a Combo starter... and Flash Blast as an ender. High ampr, And 110% dmg Phantom Slash that only costs 1mp is my kind of build.

Needless to say, I absolutly Love the New DW skills.

My question is... How much damage can Flash Blast actually do?

I will also be getting Power Wave after this next update or i might get Flash Blast.
i reset my DW earlier and took max Flash Blast.
i at proration. i did 5k per tick at forestia. and it ticks 3 times.

 

Oh this is very helpful sir... If I raise evasion from Light armor skill to max... then Keep using R10 Reflex as combo starter... I could be doing a LOT of damage with only flash blast. I had No Idea it was a DOT skill. Thank you once again oh might DW god Cypherian!

 

tip. dont use them in a combo. it's a waste of cp and it has a long duration. so there's no need to recast every combo

 

Like what Cypherian said, Reflex 10 lasts 100 seconds and Flash Blast 120 seconds. So you only need to cast each once manually.
Save your CP for other skills to put into combos.

 

Since there is no limit at flash blast is there a time penalty like reflex from 100 seconds to 10 seconds if I use it with another weapon like knuckle and which better stat for this new skills motion speed, AMPR or eva ?
