im new to this game. what are the risks of refinement faiilure? in Iruna Online the weap/gears might go from +8 to +2 if it fails but the weapons/gear wont be destroy. how bout here?

if it fails it will degrade or nothing happens..but if u use hammer to help it refine, it will be destoryed even it was +0 refine

Success Rates depends on various factors including:
Type of Ore Used
Item used to increase chances of success (E.g. Magic Hammer, Refinement Powder, Refinement Tickets etc.)
Level of Difficulty

Type of Ore Used
Each ore has its own value which affects the success rates.

Degree/Level of difficulty
tells you how hard it is to make a refinement a success
It can be calculated with the following formula:
Degree/Level of difficulty = (Your current refinement x 3) - Ore Value
E.g. If your weapon is currently at +8 and you want to use Damascus Ore (Ore Value of 4),
Degree/Level of difficulty = (8 x 3) - 4
= 20
Then we look at the below table. With the difficulty level of 20, the success rate is -40%

However, This base success rate applies to NPC blacksmith only.
Because TECH and refining related skills affects Success Rates.

Formula to calculate success rates for player blacksmith = 0.8(Base success rate+(255/4)+15)
I round down to the lowest decimal point when i use 255/4 = 63
E.g. After calculating the level of difficulty (20), the base success rate is -40%.
Substitute base success rate into the above equation,
0.8(-40+(255/4)+15) = 30.4 = 30 (Round down)
We get the value of 30% Success Rate for Player Blacksmith at difficulty level of 20.
As for NPC blacksmith, Base success rate is 1%(any negative value will be treated as 1%. Originally -40%.)

Now that we know how to calculate the success rates for player blacksmith, the following information is obtained:
Degree/Level difficulty of 8
100% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Any ore to +4
Dama ore to +5
Mithril ore to +6
Orichaclcum ore to +7

Degree/Level difficulty of 9
94% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
HP Iron to +5
HP Damascus to +6
HP mithyl to +7

Degree/Level difficulty of 10
86% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Iron to +5
Damascus steel to +6
Mithril to +7
Orichalcum to +8

Degree/Level difficulty of 11-12
78% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Haematite to +5
HP Iron/Damascus ore to +6
Hp Dama/Mithril ore to +7
HP Mithril/Orichalcum ore to +8
HP Orichalum to +9

Degree/Level difficulty of 13
70% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Iron to +6
Dama steel to +7
Mithril to +8
Orichalcum to +9

Degree/Level difficulty of 14-15
62% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Haematite to +6
HP iron/Dama ore to +7
HP dama/Mithril ore to +8
HP mythril/Orichalcum ore to +9

Degree/Level difficulty of 16
54% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Iron to +7
Dama steel to +8
Mithril to +9

Degree/Level difficulty of 17-18
46% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Haematite to +7
HP Iron/Dama ore to +8
HP dama/Mithril ore to +9
HP mithril/Orichalcum ore to +E
HP Orichalcum to +D

Degree/Level difficulty of 19
38% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Iron to +8
Dama steel to +9
Mithril to +E
Orichalcum to +D

Degree/Level difficulty of 20-21
30% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Haematite to +8
HP iron/Dama ore to +9
HP dama/Mithril ore to +E
HP mithril/Orichalcum ore to +D

22% Success rate can be obtained if you use:
Iron to +9

1% is soooo little... Therefore we should use items to increase the chance of success

You might have notice that for all the negative success rates, they are treated as 1%.
That's right! That means it doesnt matter what ore you use. The chance is 1% if you are not using any items to increase the Success Rates.

If you ARE using items to increase the Success rates, The success rate will be different for different ores.
This calculation will be a little tough.

If you are using Refinement powder or magic hammers, the following is the calculation method
Formulas that will be used:
Step1. Calculate the Degree of difficulty
Degree/Level of difficulty = (Your current refinement x 3) - Ore Value
Step 2. Calculate the Success rate for player blacksmith
Base success rate+(255/4)+15 (different from the formulas at the start without x0.8)
Step 3. Calculate the Failure rate
Failure rate=100% - Success rate
Step 4. Failure Rate divided by the Value of the refinement item
Refinement powder= 1.05
Super refinement powder= 1.1
Hyper refinement powder= 1.15
Magic Hammer= 1.2
Super Magic Hammer= 1.4
Hyper Magic Hammer= 1.6
Step 5. New Success Rate= 100 - answer of Step 4
Step 6. Final Success rate after putting skill rate of 0.8 into consideration
Step 5's answer x 0.8 x Value of the refinement item
Rounded down the the nearest decimal point

An example: Imagine i want to use orichalcum ore to +S and i want to use magic hammer

Step 1. Calculate the Degree of difficulty
Degree/Level of difficulty = (14x 3) - 10 = 32
at difficulty 32, base success rate is -110
Step 2. Calculate the Success rate for player blacksmith
-110+(255/4)+15 = -32
Step 3. Calculate the Failure rate
Failure rate=100% - (-32) = 132
Step 4. Failure Rate divided by the Value of the refinement item
Magic Hammer= 1.2
132/1.2 = 110
Step 5. New Success Rate= 100 - 110 = -10
Step 6. Final Success rate after putting skill books rate of 0.8 into consideration
-10 x 0.8 x 1.2 = -9.6 (round off to nearest decimal = -10)
Orichalcum ore to +S with Magic Hammer success rate is -10%. But remember all negative success rates will be treated as 1%.

If you are using Refinement tickets, the following is the calculation method
Formulas that will be used:
Step1. Calculate the Degree of difficulty
Degree/Level of difficulty = (Your current refinement x 3) - Ore Value
Step 2. Calculate the Success rate for player blacksmith
Player blacksmith success rate = 0.8(Base success rate+(255/4)+15)
Step 3. Answer x the % of refinement ticket

An example: Imagine i want to use orichalcum ore to +S and i want to use refinement ticket 500%
Player blacksmith success rate = 0.8(-110+(255/4)+15) = -25.6 = 1%(all negative value will be treated as 1%)
1% x 500 = 5%
Orichalcum ore to +S with Refinement ticket 500% success rate is 5%

If you are using Smith Hammers , the following is the calculation method
Formulas that will be used:
Step 1.Calculate the Degree of difficulty
Degree/Level of difficulty = (Your current refinement x 3) - Ore Value
Step 2. Calculate the Success rate for player blacksmith
Player blacksmith success rate = 0.8(Base success rate+(255/4)+15)
Step 3. Answer + the % of smith hammer

An example: Imagine i want to use orichalcum ore to +S and i want to use Neo Smith Hammer
Player blacksmith success rate = 0.8(-110+(255/4)+15) = -25.6 = 1%(all negative value will be treated as 1%)
Step 3. 1% + 20% = 21%
Orichalcum ore to +S with Neo smith hammer success rate is 21%

All these calculation would be tedious. Luckily a table for success rates of different refinement item at difficulty level 26 onwards has been provided above.

ori to +B is 6% success rate.. To +A is 1% only :/
you can yolo Hyper Magic Hammer + HP ori 46% success rate but if u fail, the weapon/armor will be gone.
Its a gamble ._. Ive tried and failed lots of time but also did pass :')

In fact you can use any ore + anti deg for +A because any ore except HP ori (correct me if wrong) gives 1% succes rate.

However if you use Hyper magic hammers the value of the ore becomes important; so then it's the best to use Hyper Magic Hammer indeed;

Talking about Hyper Magic Hammer...Wasn't it nerfed?

100% insurance tickets prevent degration 100%
hammers and other refinment tickets still make ur equip degrade
6% with ori is more effective, 16k vs 200k

Anybody tried 30 points on full refine tree with 0 tech stats? bcoz I have a tank with VIT/DEX as my primary stats. I like to reset my skills and planning to put points on the full refining skills. But if this skill required a 255 tech stats like OP stressed out, my stats be pointless for a tank. Asked some here on forums and got a different responses. Tried to dig some more infos about the skill from Jap wiki and from this link http://wikiwiki.jp/trm/?%A5%B9%A5%DF%A5%B9%A5%B9%A5%AD%A5%EB the statement "Success rate increases with TEC" was only stated on "Smith skill Lv 1" and its strange how the statement "skill level goes up, the refinement success rate increases" was repeated in all skill lvl. So does this means the "Success rate increases with TEC" is only applied to Smith skill Lv 1? That it still is possible to refine all classes own gears with just a max refine skill points? even without tech stats at all? and how far without tech? bcoz if it could refine my gears up to +B, then its a reset for me. anybody tried this?
