Discussion: do you think mage is an over powered class in Toram?

Hmm a smiliar discussion cropped up on another toram forum. If alot think mages are too OP then it's time to party up with a well equipped 2 hander!

There are soo many mages around, its easily the most popular class choice. Easy to level up with and don't need really good equipment to be sucessful (for now anyways).

AOE wise: I'd rate sonic blade over magic wall. At goblins and skeleton wall can have the advantage but stick a full support with auras and x3 2 handers pew pewing with sonic blade magic wall loses. All other monsters can easily be AOE'ed with sonic blade aswell.

DMG wise: mages pack a punch but can be very squishy and that cast time is a problem, on bosses / mini bosses someone to tank is usually needed. Currently, on those melee unfriendly bosses (forestia, silver roar, gold skeleton) mages are lovely .
Top dmg goes to well equipped 2handers. Astute/trigger slash can happily do 13k (20k+ with smite). Spiral air does some completely insane damage (24k+ with smite). Trying to get some screenshots of spiral air dmg, its a real pain screen gets flooded with hits + normal attacks, half the time its a mess of numbers :/.

Maybe knuckles and bows/bowguns users need a little bit of a damage boost. Granted they have alot of control skills (tumble, slow, stun, paralysis etc) and bows/bowguns have range. I feel they are a wee bit behind on dps output compaired to mages and blade users.

 

I have to agree with you on some points. But If you put a well equpped Ranger on a pt, he will fk any 2h and mage dps any day any time.

 

Sure mages are powerful- but is it worth it to be thought of as a douche?

This is a fantasy MMO and face it- mages are fantasy. Magic users always get a little extra love.
Toram also strongly favors party style combat. The party system minimizes the most obvious limitations they face- fragility and cast time.
Thirdly- welcome to early game, where bosses can be powered through in 60 seconds and less. DPS rules. Support and control are not yet mandatory for a quick, easy boss fight.

I've never thought of mages as over powered. If you do, I recommend reflecting about how ludicrously easy main quest was in the beginning, and ask yourself if it would have been easier as a mage.

 

mage has a very minimal breaking ability so i guess that would end your point in this conversation hahahaha imagine the level cap being 100 and mages cant solo bosses coz of a lousy break reason ?? that would suck right ??

 

Hmm i've always been curious about bow/bowgun damage potential. Never come across one getting close to mage/2H damage.
Any juicy numbers and screenshots to show us?

Of course, let me plug my phone to my pc once I get home, and Ill definitely show u some awesome shit . Rangers can achive that same amount of damage a 2hs pulls off easily.

nAh.. Dont think so magic damge and phycical damage is diff ya know since toram is new there is only a few mobs who has high mGical def so mages are strong in dmgs on physical defence but mage low damge at magical defences + mage only depends on (mp) when there out there useless. So i think all classes are balanced you think there strong cause mages fast farm with wall skill in farming skelly goblins and other upcoming mobs what i observe mages are mostly invited to party cause they farm fast and high damge in phsical defence mobs than other classes. The game gets and get stronger bosses mage will be hard to use in other boss and mobs and oh yeah mage dies while casting xD if your targeted. So i think all is balanced.. Sorry for my bad english..

It is different damage honestly.

Go fight Ghosts, Fire Ghosts, Butterflys, Books, you name it, theres many magic damagers ingame.
